Re: Side Doors on Hangars

Bogged down in bureaucratic nonsense - have people who don't know aviation, presenting the case to people who don't know aviation. City Council is like - huh? So why do we won't to give these hangar owners something for nothing? Let's raise the lease rates on them. So we have no idea whats going to ...

Re: Hangar Lease Contract

So the new Airport Director hit us with - http://www.faa.gov, 5190.6B, Chapter 12, page 3, 3.(Term). Which states that FAA Offices should not consent to proposed lease contracts that exceed 50 yrs from original build date.

Re: Hangar Lease Contract

Everyone got involved - Mayor, City Council, Airport Commission, New Airport Director, Old Airport Director - lots of closed door meetings. Airport Commission Meeting. I'm not that optimistic. If we get an extension, maybe I'll put in LED Lights and paint the floor. Money isn't falling off a pipelin...

Re: Birds and no radio

I jammed an Alder Limb, like that, coming out of a creek bed - could not move the yoke fwd/back at all. Nice to have bubble windows and that it was on the pilots side. Flew (full trim) to a friends strip (Meekins), which is sloped uphill. Just before stall, gave her a shot of thrust to get the nose ...

Re: Side Doors on Hangars

Our airport does have a big fence, with a deep creek blocking easy access, two code gates coming from one road in, and 4 security cameras. I don't put much stock in that, but at least a thief would have to go to a little effort.

Re: Moisture

After looking in a couple of more box hangars - my conclusion is - what George said. It's how well the hangar is sealed off.

Re: Side Doors on Hangars

Yes I'm sure you are correct out about the building codes - I'm glad to know the answer. Now that the hangar is 12 yrs old, I think I could get away with switching the door out.

Re: Side Doors on Hangars

The lock on my door doesn't keep honest people out - everyone knows my lock can be opened by sliding a simple screw driver or blade behind the tongue. LOL I didn't think about the building code, which I have no problem ignoring. Spot weld might be the easiest fix. I'm going to check outside some int...

Side Doors on Hangars

I have a pet peeve - why - why, why, why, do builders put doors up, with the hinges on the outside of the building? C'mon! I've turned them around on several houses I've bought, now I'm getting around to the metal one on my Hangar. For ideas I looked at other hangars - LOL - most are the same way. N...

Re: Moisture

It's been raining for 3 days here, so I went on an investigation. Looked at some T-Hangars - all had water in the first 3 feet of doorways. Most had water in the rear, coming from backside or neighboring hangar. One had the concrete curb built around back.. Sure enough planes had condensate all over...

Re: Hey everybody - (Dave L. retired)

Thanks Guys! VROD Screaming Eagle 8) To get a routine started, I'll probably join one of the breakfast/coffee clubs around town - several of my buddies are in one, that meet at a mom-n-pops between me and the airport. I was invited to join the antique car club, every Monday, for lunch and whatever t...

Re: Hey everybody - (Dave L. retired)

Well so far I hang out at the airport all day, every day, like I have no where else to go. I do have those two grandbabies, all though I have to share them with the other grandparents who live closer. So I just pulled a fast one. Tryston is a photographer and needed a studio/office - I brokered her ...
