Hmmm - I see your point. I'm just not sure how well the Velcro will hold up over time/vibration/heat. This is definitely not a job you want to do twice. But, I guess you could patch up with adhesive as needed. Good luck!

Some of the experimental guys are now shooting silver instead of white to cut down on the amount of paint needed, which costs and weighs less.

No experience with elevator skins, but I did my RH 180 flap a couple weekends ago (I'm A&P). No jig, took 16 hours or so by myself, not counting painting and priming (which were done before assembly), but including removing and installing the flap. I used McFarlane skins, took the top skin off, ...
