EGT setup

I want to install a single probe EGT on my 170B with the C145.
My question is has anyone done it?
What cyl did you install it on and how does it work?

AN gyro wandering

Hello All My AN style Direction Gyro was wandering. I sent it to KC for rebuild and reinstalled. It still wanders. They will check it out for me but before I send it back i want to know if there is something I should be doing first. It is plumbed exactly like the Cessna parts book shows except that ...

Label on Battery Box

Hi all
I cleaned up my battery box today and I can see where the cover had a label about 3.5 by 4 inches on the cover at one time.
Anybody have a photo of an original label?

Re: F&M Oil filter adapter AND THREAD DRIFT-LOL

Look up FM filter adapter on the internet. I just stumbled on to 7 pages of instructions to install and check for leaks. This is dated Oct 2019. To torque the adapter, install a wood block between the adapter and the engine block to prevent turning when torquing. They now want you to safety wire the...

Re: 48 170 fuel pump costs

Call Mike in the shop at Then and Now Automotive Weymouth MA. 781-335-8860
He rebuilds fuel pumps for antique cars all the time. He may have a core for you.
He rebuilds motor mounts. He made a mold and made rubber cowling mounts for a 985 in a Beech 18 for a friend of mine.

Re: Upgraded Battery Chargers

And when I install that Concord battery in my 1954 170 it is being charged with a 35 amp generator through a vibrating points regulator designed about 1930.

Re: BC433-H Alternator STC

Hi Jud I bought a rebuilt engine for my 54 170B from a gentleman who had rebuilt it for his home built. 70 hours on it now and runs great. It came with BC-433 alternator and regulator. The FAA held me up for 3 months for approval despite the fact that I supplied all the paperwork that this alternato...

8 day clock

Hi All
My 8 day clock can not be wound.
Anybody know where to have it repaired?
I see online I can get a used one for about 100 dollars, but I don't know how worn it would be.
Thommen on the face.
Wakmann Watch Co on the rear case.

Thanks

Re: Crankcase Vent Tube

Thanks
I do remove the oil cap and give it a shake to get rid of the condensate after shut down.

Crankcase Vent Tube

Hi All
Where should my crankcase tube terminate?
Mine is about 2 inches above the bottom lip of the cowl. The cowl has a 1.5 inch lip.
Does this sound right?
Mine drips a yellow goo when shut down.

large feet and rudder pedals

Hello All Does anyone else have a problem with large feet. I can not apply full rudder without being on the brakes. I have been lowering my feet so I am just using my toes but then I can't get to the brakes. I think I need about a 1/2 in block on the bottom of the rudder pedal to keep the top of my ...

Re: AOPA Oct 2018 article - Vince Lalomia

I met Vince in 2014 at the AOPA fly in at Plymouth MA. I had not flown for 30 years, my father had passed away and I had some money to get back into flying. I went to the rusty pilots seminar and I volunteered to park aircraft during the fly in Sunday. In the afternoon they asked me to block the air...

Has anyone tried to get a field approval for a BC 433-H 30 amp alternator?
I bought a C145-2 rebuilt engine for my 170B and it cam on it. It only weighs 4 pounds and it starts charging at 950 rpms.

Thanks

Auto Valve oil drain valve

Hi All
Has anyone changed the small shut off o-ring in a Auto Valve BJ1000AHS4X. It appears to be a square o-ring. Mine works but it is out and this is the time to change it.
It looks like a round o-ring would work but I want to do this right.

Thanks
