Mixing it up with nose draggers

I attended and completed Cessnas 2 Oshkosh formation training. Aircraft ranged from 210,177,172 and a lonesome 170. The class was headed up by Dave a Textron test pilot, former B2, and current Christan Eagle pilot. Whom was also my saftey pilot for the sorties. The clinics ground school was very inf...

Re: Washington Sandbar Play

You answered my question, to all I need to know. Plenty of rpms, and 100 in cruise. While I'm not super excited to loose 25mph off the top end. I can't wait to see more rpms on take off.

Re: Washington Sandbar Play

Sounds great to me, take off rpm I guess is what I was most curious about with that pitch. Now to find one a good used one. It seems they are not easy to come across.
Thank You,

Re: Washington Sandbar Play

Nice flights! I'm curious as to your numbers with the 80/46. Most of what I've read about has been a 40 or 42 pitch. After my last back country trip into Arkansas. I've decided to not go back country again until I have a climb prop. From what I've read the 80" is the way to go, 46 pitch is the ...

8) Good Stuff, I had no idea. Maybe I should blow the dust off of the FAR book, I haven't cracked it open since flight school.

Seat track replacement

Hey Guys, We're going to have to replace the seat tracks this year, I've ordered and received outside right and inside left tracks to comply. These new ones look amazing, and I think they will look really odd next to my old ones. What's your opinion on replacing all of them instead so they all match...

Re: ADS-B RECEIVER KIT

I've just completed flight test of the basic stratux box all parts ordered from Amazon, total cost 109 bucks. It's working well I'm getting traffic and weather on the iPad. Over all I'm very satisfied, I will be upgrading it in the near future (fancy case, gps,and duel band)

Re: tailwheel main spring replacement

If your in doubt, remove the spring pack and inspect the main leaf for a stress riser where the next spring ends. Changing the main leaf spring is very cheap insurance, and great piece of mind.

Re: Tail wheel spring

Because this discussion includes the tail wheel leaf springs, I'd like to add my recent experience. I just recently (3 weeks ago) ordered a main leaf. When we installed it, we noticed the main leaf was canted to the left a full 1/4" from the the rest of the leaf stack. We removed the new main ...

Re: Jasco Alternator Repair

I don't believe the whine was from the solder joint. Just in the chain of event that came to a head. The noise would increase as the load did regardless of application, strobes, turn and bank, landing lights. It didn't matter the only way to to make it stop was to turn the alternator off. I suspect ...

Re: Jasco Alternator Repair

In closing we pulled the alternator to force a result in our radio noise. After pricing out a overhauled unit, we disassembled my current unit and found nothing wrong. So in desperation we installed a capacitor, a new larger filter, new seals and rubber on gear drive, new tach seal. While waiting on...
