Re: Windscreen replacement

Medal Master, thanks for the information. Sounds like the nut plate strips is the ticket. What kind of nut plates did you use, and how are they attached to the strips? Flush rivets? I'm going to the plane today and will look long and hard under the panel for access to the back side of the forward re...

Re: Windscreen replacement

Thank you Bruce. I wonder why just some of my lower bracket are screwed in place. Seems that only about 6 or 7 on each side have been replaced with screws. I will start the project and will learn as I go along. Projects always seem like they are overwhelming before getting into it. I'm also replacin...

Windscreen replacement

I have searched the Hanger forum looking for information on replacing my windscreen. All I find is the long post about a "dumb question" about the debate of straps or no straps. I purchased an LP Aero replacement windscreen at Oshkosh this year and it arrived last week. Does anyone have ph...

Re: 0 360 engine to mount torque setting

Great information. I did look up what I paid for the Lord mounts..... I like to think my first answer was correct..... but no... they were $198 each! I will call Penn Yan before my first start to see what they recommend. They did run the engine on their test stand for 1.5 hrs. The AVCON STC drawings...

Re: 0 360 engine to mount torque setting

Thank you all for the information. I didn't get most of it until I fought for 3 hrs getting the bolts to line up. It is now hung, but what a job. It I had it to do over I would have mounted the mount to the engine while it was hanging on the lift and then mount the whole thing to the firewall (as re...

0 360 engine to mount torque setting

I am finally ready to mate my Penn Yan overhauled Lycoming engine to my 170b! Anyone know what I should torque the bolts to the Lord mounts? (Man are those mounts expensive at $180 a piece!). Any advice on break in? Penn says to prime the engine until I see oil pressure before the first start. How d...

Avcon Throttle part number

My 0360 is off the plane and on a little field trip to Penn Yan for a complete overhaul. I am replacing a bunch of stuff while the engine is removed. The end sleeve has come loose from my throttle cable. I sent it to McFarlane to replace it and was told that they could make one for me, but would not...

Re: Gascolator Glass Bowl Needed

George, I will continue to look for it in the mail. It wasn't here today, but bet it's in the mail tomorrow. Been busy working on the rudder pedal bearings today, so have been busy. I ordered the bowl in Alaska today and will return yours once I get the "new" one. Thanks Gary.

Re: Gascolator Glass Bowl Needed

George, mine is 2 3/16 OSD, and 2 7/8 tall. The link for the aluminum pipe is much bigger. I will have to take another look at it. Gary

Re: Gascolator Glass Bowl Needed

George, I like the glass bowl so I can see what's inside. I may order the aluminum tube and make a spare from the link here. I have spent the whole morning online looking at leads and am getting frustrated at not finding a good lead. I would love to borrow your glass bowl while I look for a replacem...

Re: Gascolator Glass Bowl Needed

Are there any new leads for a glass bowl replacement? I have gone through the ones here to no avail. I dropped mine yesterday while cleaning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I stopped by Tractor Supply last night and all they had were cone shaped bowls. I need a straight glass tube open on both ends. 3" tall ...

Oil Temp guage replacement

My original Cessna oil temp gauge part #0411017-3 failed on the return from Oshkosh this year. It failed, I know now, because we keep moving the capillary tube back and forth while replacing the failed Vacuum pump at the show. It did a slow death on the way home with the temps slowly dropping on the...

Re: Ferry Pilot?????

Hey Chris, sorry to have missed you and a last formation flight together this week. The weather was not good as you know. Let me know if there is anything you would like me to do in reguards 39A. Wish you had more time to get the plane to Nebraska (maybe we could have flown together). I will be flyi...
