Re: Landing gear wedges
A pic would help to make sure we get your slant (feeble attempt at humour). From memory and a reminder to myself to look harder at the shims this annual, I seem to remember the shims do not fully engage into the gap at the top of the casting but are probably at least 1/4” away from the outboard cast...

Re: Fuel Tank Filler
If its not staked on the inside, you’re in luck, the neck is threaded into the flange that sits in the tank and a tool such as this one might get it moving
and closer

Re: 0300A - inspecting lifters?
Bring it back to life very carefully. If it hasn’t run for sometime, changing the oil, removing the plugs, pressurizing the oil galleries, turning the engine over by hand for starters. I, myself also worry over stuck rings. Maybe I worry too much.

Re: 0300A - inspecting lifters?
I think I’ve posted this pic before, maybe not 79411E6C-6174-40F2-B4ED-28FC1810331B.jpeg Excellent info Bruce and this is what you hope is not the condition of your lifter’s face. Notice most of the wear is in the center of the lobe which makes it difficult to see even after pulling a cylinder. Requ...

Re: AV-30-C
I went for the AV-30 (to keep up with the Woods :D ) for ADSB out and kept my DG. On average about every 20 min to true it up. I often forgot to do it and if I had to rely on it suddenly, I might end up be going in the opposite direction. In reality, I use foreflight, following along with maps and c...

Re: AV-30-C
I agree, heading indicator is not useable. I’m waiting on the remote as well. I was asked recently by a 180 owner whether Ua would be suitable for him. I would go Garmin for A/P integration, but its mucho dinero. Seems Ua is in the habit announcing products with the real rollout occurring much later...

Its a fun game, guessing how many planes are in a picture of a plane for sale. My best is 4 , from a pic taken from twenty feet away. Plane sold to new owner and seems to be ok.

Re: HELP ... Trying to transfer the Bush 180 LYC STC
I was surprised that Bush STC [engine conversion] was nearly exactly the same as Harry’s STC Those who had the chance to talk to Harry often got more info than they were prepared for. It was always a delight to talk to him. As I understand it (from Harry) he was the mill for the Bush operation, the...

Re: HELP ... Trying to transfer the Bush 180 LYC STC
I’m also just suggesting that there’s been an evolution in the regulations over the lifetime of our aircraft. If we are talking about what is required today, to apply a current STC, that’s easy but Its difficult to follow the changes in regulations over the lifetime of our aircraft I bet even for Bi...
