Transponder repair
My transponder (Bendix/King KT76A) knob for the first digit broke off Friday and I need to send it off for repair. Does anyone have a recommendation for an avionics repair shop. It doesn't have to be close (I live near Sacramento) since I'll be mailing it anyway. For all I care, it could be on the e...

Re: what is this??
I have those same stains/deposits on my cowling. I usually wipe them off every month and every few months I'll wax that area to make it easy to wipe the exhaust stains off the cowling. I fly 2.5 hours per week at 5500-6500', and lean the engine like you described. I very seldom fly in the rain (this...

Re: window hinge
I just ordered it. It's a hinge that's 6 feet long, but the part number you have is only for half the hinge. If you order MS20257-3-7200 from Univar, you get both sides of the hinge and the connecting pin all for the bargain price of $15.24 thanks again for the info.

Re: window hinge
OK, thanks for the hints and advice. I guess I deserved the smart-az reply ... being too lazy about calling the distributer I think I'll go with the part for $2.88 that definately fits my budget!
thanks again,

Re: window hinge
Is the Univar part a long piano hinge that I'd need to cut to the proper length?

Re: window hinge
Where did you order the part from? I called Aircraft Spruce and Chief and both said they dont' have it and I'll have to go elsewhere to get them.
Thanks,
Thanks,

Re: Replace rudder return springs?
silly question maybe, but were the cables replaced at the same time as the pulley? If not, they might just be wearing due to age.

Re: Flying Magazine
The Villa Venezia restaurant is not within walking distance. Sometimes the folks at the Airport Office might give you a ride into town ... maybe even loan you a personal car. but otherwise you'd have to take a taxi. There is one restaurant within walking distance, the Warehouse Deli, it's maybe a 1/...

Re: Starter Troubles
I had a leak I suspected was coming from the Starter last year. Check the threads " Starter Clutch shaft oil seal" and "Starter noise after release" for more information. We pulled the starter and replaced both seals then put a new gasket on when we reinstalled. Initially it seem...

Re: U-2 pilot
All the U-2 pilots I met were really pretty cool! Besides, how classified can it possibly be when the indicated airspeed at cruise is about the same as a C-170 at cruise

Re: tail pull handles
I had a tailwheel towbar that I used to carry along with me everywhere, even though I had the tail pull handles ... but after a year or two of never using the towbar, I took it out of the airplane. The tailpull handles are so good for pushing or pulling that I've never needed the towbar in 6 years o...
