Re: Best Mods for 170 STOL performance

We currently have a 1700 foot grass strip at about 1250 MSL and recently added around 300 foot to the strip but not yet usable (need a little heat to get the grass growing). A second strip is around 1600 and around 950 MSL. Any idea how much you lose in cruise speed with the climb prop? I like big w...

Re: Best Mods for 170 STOL performance

Thanks Paul for the pep talk and reaffirming that fact that I won't every upgrade to a 180 horse engine if I get lucky enough to own the 170 in the first place. I am not speaking bad of all you folks out there hat have the green to make that type of conversion possible or sacrifice all of your other...

Re: Best Mods for 170 STOL performance

Thank ya much for the replies. No crystal ball here but I'm pretty sure there will be no 180 conversion in my future if I get lucky enough to own a 170 to begin with (looking hard). That seems just so unbelievably expensive and I thought the health care system way out of hand. I'll just pray I can f...

Re: Best Mods for 170 STOL performance

Not sure what is acceptable so set me straight if this is not. Also not sure if I should start a new thread to ask this questions. I tried to google it and look on this forum but didn't see anything conclusive. What is the Wing X product mentioned earlier in this discussion? Does anyone know if Vort...

Re: Cessna 170 Loan Issues

Thank you once again for the wonderful afternoon reading. After reading some of these posts I have come to the conclusion that my first problem is I don't know what the heck I want other than I want to go flying. I don't want to rush this as it seems I am jumping at every 170A & B model that loo...

Re: Cessna 170 Loan Issues

I apologize for the delays in getting a response back in and thanking everyone for their input. I don't get much computer time in the evenings once the wife and kids are home and most of my breaks at work today have been taken by other issues.....mainly trying to get a loan. I didn't mean to get any...

Cessna 170 Loan Issues

Hello All, I am in the process of trying to purchase a 1949 Cessna 170A and I am continually running into road blocks trying to find a lender to loan on a 63 year old aircraft. Below are the other issues I have run into; The bank wants 40-50% down. The bank wants copies of every entry from the aircr...
