N5000A 1st production 172 help
No one know what's original like you guys. For those of you who saw my plane at OSH this year I would like input on originality. I'm just not done with it even though we won Grand Champion. My plane has a lot more in common with a 170 than most 172s. This is a list of changes we are doing this winte...

Air filter cam lock receptacles
I'm getting rid of my Brackett air filter and installing a Donalson filter which I like better. To install the Brackett the original cam lock receptacles have to be destroyed. I cannot figure out which cam lock receptacle is original. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Dennis.

ADF antenna mast
We will have N5000A (1st production 172) fully restored at OSH. One of the last pieces is the ADF antenna mast. In the pictures it almost looks like a wooden stick. We have the aluminum base but not the stick itself. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: 1st Cessna 172 restoration
We will go back to as original as possible. There have been more Cessna 172's manufactured than any other aircraft in the world. Since this is the first one (well documented) we simply cannot take short cuts. It will be as original as possible.

1st Cessna 172 restoration
Well, to begin with the first 172 has more to do with the last 170 than the rest of the 172 line. I've gotten a lot of information from 170 drivers and decided I should a least let you guys in on the progress we have made with N5000A (sn 28000) which is the first 172 made. I'm the 16th owner. It was...

Re: 1956 172 panel overlay..
Ya, she's in Quincy, IL now. I've had her for about a year and a half. Really got started on the restoration in July. Now all paint is stripped, interior and windows all out. Wings are off in my hangar being polished now. Fuselage is down the taxiway at AirSpectrum who is doing the complete inside a...
