Re: 0-300 engine issues

All is well. Aero Engines of Winchester VA did a great job...have about 15 hours and its running great. Thanks for asking, btw I don't know if you remember but you sold me an overlay, and it looks great. Thanks again.

Re: Master Relay or Solenoid, Battery contactor

I replaced my old relay with a sky-tec sts-m12 in June, and it has now failed. I put in a call to Hartzell lets see what they have to say.

Re: 0-300 engine issues

Hi, just to clarify.... the number 1 cylinder had the valve issue. I told the mechanic to also replace number 6 because it also had the same time on it as 1. When he removed 6 he looked through and saw the lifter damaged. The lifter had nothing to do with the exhaust valve on number 1. The two issue...

Re: 0-300 engine issues

this is going to take a lot of thought, have to decide taking the engine apart and doing just whats necessary, or going for a complete overhaul. My local guy is recommending to just do whats required now because of the cost and the value of the plane. The last overhaul indicates the crank was "...

Re: 0-300 engine issues

Hi I am on Long Island and the plane is up at 44n. We were on our way back from Oshkosh and got stuck there. I saw the stuck valve, it was completely frozen open. I have replaced 3 cylinders in the last few years, and actually shipped the guy at sky acres 3 new cylinders to replace the remaining old...

0-300 engine issues

Hello all, Looking for advice regarding my engine. I had a exhaust valve stick open on my number 1 cylinder. The mechanic removed the cylinder and discovered a cam lifter that was not rotating and damaged. Anyway he said the case has to be split and the motor would have to be sent out. He has a &quo...

Re: 1956 172 gooseneck fuel vent

So I figured it out and it is kind of embarrassing. I checked the vent and it was fine, after standing back and looking at the plane my friend noticed the plane was on a slight angle. So by leaving the fuel selector on both and having the tanks full, well there you go....duh..thats it!

Re: Is this normal?

We replaced the o rings with the correct ones, and never used mogas. If you look down the primer the seat had a small internal crack, I know sounds crazy but that was it.... I was getting a blue stain on and off in the cowl, and the plane was running rich, all is better now.
