Re: Skis

If anyone has any questions about this call Airglas and talk to Clift about it, he is very friendly and can address your concerns about the rigging questions and why the C180 rigging was changed.

Re: Skis

The prop is McCauley 7653. It seems to work out fine but I have not been in any real deep snow conditions and my plane has the Sportsman wing mod on it as well, probably makes a difference.

Re: Skis

Minton;

FYI:
I called Airglas and from talking to them, I found the comments you made about changing the rigging to eliminate the gear leg bracket do not apply to the Cessna 170's. The changes were made for an issue with the C180-185's.

The installation for the C170's is still per the original STC.

Re: Recommended Modifications/Repairs for 170 Owners

I use the True-Lock axle nut with my straight skis to keep the axle shaft open for my dolly's. They work fine.

Re: Sportsman Install

I have the Sportsman Kit on my 170, and like it, slow speed handling is great, and T.O. roll is pretty short.

Re: Skis

Found Airglas 2500's and changed over the rigging that was set up for a super cub... They work well, no problems so far on snow.

Re: Landing gear adjustment

How about actually adjusting the position of the gear leg itself forward or back?

Re: Landing gear adjustment

Is there any adjustment available to the gear once the P ponk kit is installed for toe in etc?

Re: Skis

My airglas L2500A's are installed an flew yesterday for the first time on snow. The snow conditions were hard and bumpy but doable. Made dollys that fit into the Cessna axles. The dollys work but make the gear splay out when moving the plane backward, due to the skis being toe'd in.... Performance o...

Re: Skis

Thanks for your comments. Looking at some Airglas skis not far from my home in N. Il. (plenty of snow here now). Airglas with 1.25" dia. bushings for a Supercub, I am told those need to be replaced with 1.5" dia. bushings and a portion of my axles have to be machined down to 1.5" dia ...
