Re: Looking for reasonably priced 531211 & 537466 through bo
I agree with your assessment of the bolts of TCM s own online IPC and your diagram. SB97-6B does say replace crankcase "thru" bolts. And as Bruce said on page C-2.4 of the M-0 of 2017 Table C-1. Mandatory Overhaul Replacement Parts says replace Crankcase "Through" Bolts Per the C...

Re: Looking for reasonably priced 531211 & 537466 through bo
Thats a good thought. Although I had different thoughts today. I write these thoughts for someone like me struggling with this decision in the future. Just my thoughts. I've been involved with all sorts of engines over the years, engines where we RREEally stretched the bolts per manual. Alot of the ...

Re: Looking for reasonably priced 531211 & 537466 through bo
I have a set of overhauled lifters from when I overhauled my engine if you are interested. I decided to put new ones in my engine. Jon "Jughead" Counsell 850-723-2072 [/quote] Hello there Jon, I also have a set of overhauled Lifter Bodies as in the Cam Follower. Are you saying Lifter Bodi...

Re: Looking for reasonably priced 531211 & 537466 through bo
Thanks Jim, I've overhauled flat engines, radials and jet engines. This engine is one of my personal engines on my personal airplane so it's my money that I need to spend while home not working forced to be social distancing. This O-300 I have already had everything overhauled that can be overhauled...

Re: Looking for reasonably priced 531211 & 537466 through bo
Thank you, yes I wasn't really going to call it overhauled. The cam followers or lifter bodies I'm using reconditioned ones, and the lifter plungers as in the hydraulic lifters inside the cam followers I am inspecting them per the manual. Lifter plungers meaning the internal units that pump up with ...

Been looking for reasonably priced 7 each 531211 & 2 each 537466 through bolts for my O-300 since I got back from deployment.

Re: 1956 172 O-300A engine, can I use D case (not the accy c
The case used in D configuration, if that D case used in A configuration, must have the oil gallery that was drilled for starter gear oiling, tapped and plugged. The back side of the later cases cylinder hold down stud holes, the ones that do not accept thru bolts, those stud holes are blind on the ...

Re: 1956 172 O-300A engine, can I use D case (not the accy c
Can't wait to read this again carefully and go look at the parts book that is shown in the picture above and track the codes. Side note: there is, on the D, needing to tap and pipe plug the oil gallery going to the original starter location when configured as an A model. I would like to try to find ...

Re: 1956 172 O-300A engine, can I use D case (not the accy c
Thank you. I figured you (Gahorn) would say hi. I can change the configuration but will it still be allowed under the 172 TCDS. It will not be a D engine configuration. It would be an A configuration with an originally D case and A accessory case. I. Model 172, 4 PCLM (Normal Category), approved Nov...

1956 172 O-300A engine, can I use D case (not the accy case)
Hello there. This is for a 1956 C172, not the C172A but the straight original C172 I have a O-300A and have all the parts ready to reassemble. I'm an A&P IA. I have a O-300D overhauled tagged case as well here. Just the case. Not the accessory case. My only interest was I believe the D case, to ...

Actually the cases got beefed up over the years with the D model being the heaviest.

Re: Who's been best for our O-300 Crankcase Overhaul Inspect
huh.... I didn't know that. Being so far away from home without pictures of my A case and no illustrations or books I didn't remember there being a hole there on the right side nose of the case.

Re: Who's been best for our O-300 Crankcase Overhaul Inspect
Thanks fellas, Turns out I found a case that was overhauled many years ago to send in instead for inspection. It is a O-300-D case by serial number, and since I am deployed right now I am not where I have info to see if I can use it. There is also no one at home to send my A case in for overhaul but...

I am on deployment right now but need to get my case sent out for inspection. This crankcase was overhauled a long time ago by Columbia Ai...
