Re: Zeftronics Regulator Approval (sp)
I am updating this based on further discussion with my A&P. I am in the same situation as others on this old thread. Installed Delco Remy generator is P/N 1101890, 12V, 20 amp generator. Per Zeftronics technical data provided with voltage controller, "Delco-Remy Generator Spec Data & Ze...

Re: L-19 Leaf spring installation
Very interesting debate. I can't wait to see how it shakes out. I actually had both the L19 and 170 springs in the shopping cart and decided to check our forums before deciding. My bird is somewhere in between. It has the eye bolt with a thicker main leaf with one of the minor 170 leafs removed to a...

Re: Another MoGas warning
Do not run fuel with any amount of ethanol in your aircraft. The Petersen Auto fuel STC specifications does not allow it for both potential water mixing and engine damage. Check out the Petersen site fuel testing tab http://www.autofuelstc.com/fuel_testing.phtml If you are running autofuel, I have f...

Re: Continental IO - 360 STC
There are options for a motor mount to put the Continental IO-360 in our 170's. It has been done using the motor mount from a Maule M-4-210C. The 337 for this is on the website. I also have seen a 170 with the IO-360 and I believe the owner told me he used a motor mount from a Piper Seneca twin. The...

Re: O320 in a 170B?
There was an article in the 3rd quarter 2004 170 News on an IO-320-B1A lycoming conversion. the engine came from a twin Comanche with a constant speed prop. Pretty good article and explains the performance he got and all the plus and minuses he experienced. Bottom line, the writer got just about the...

Re: C-170 Aiplanes With Cont.IO-360 Engines
I know this response is to an old post from April but maybe this will clarify the weight of a C145-2. The dry engine weight is 268 lbs as stated in the overhaul manual Table 2 on page 4. The accesories listed in table 6 on page 5 are all extra. They are not included in the dry engine weight. I can c...

Re: exhaust tailpipes
Thanks for all the input. I will get started on sealing up the cabin starting with the left landing gear where it enters the fuselage and is covered with exhaust plume.

Re: exhaust tailpipes
Thank you everyone for the responses. The reason I am thinking I need to lengthen the stacks is fumes. I have always tolerated the exhaust stains on the belly and just assumed it was norm for the course. But I recently started taking my 2 young boys flying and both complained about exhaust fumes in ...

exhaust tailpipes
Can someone recommend a source for exhaust tailpipes P/N 0550157-4 and 0550157-33 page 89 of the parts manual? How far should the stack protrude thru the cowling? Mine stick out less than 1 inch and I think someone cut them shorter than original way back in the past. Exhaust stack assembbly is in gr...
