Re: most common 180ph upgrade?

I was walking around PAMR last month and there was a 170 with the 180 mod for sale. Could be the same one. If not, you've got another choice! 8)

Re: Thinking about a trip

Right, the lee side is the downwind side. Do not fly on the lee side of the ridge. I was saying do fly on the leeward side of the valley/canyon, along the windward slope to benefit from the rising air.

Re: Thinking about a trip

If you are flying in a valley/canyon (and the terrain is descending), fly on the downwind, lee side of the canyon. There you will be experiencing the updrafts as the wind strikes the rising terrain below you, and if a turn around is needed you will be turning into a headwind thus reducing your groun...

Re: Plastic parts, Airbus V Boeing split- cleaning out my 17

I too, have kept my silence, but I have "a little" to say. I have a little time in Boeing and Airbus (16,000+ in Boeing 737 series and 5,000+ A319/A320/A321) so I think that I can speak with a little more authority as to the differences. I have NO problem nor fear of riding on either manuf...

More like 20 different answers from 10 different FEDs. One for their opinion, and one for CYA!

Re: Left Door Latch Removal

I do have the next page but am on a trip and won't be home until Friday. My Ipad won't let me attach from my PDF manual so I can't post a copy until I get home and can get to my computer.

However... the part number on that spring is 0411567-2

(Just because an airplane " left wichita" with one mounted on the left...doesn't mean Cessna did it....Yingling did lots of alterations for new owners prior to delivery in accordance with custom orders. Which is located in "Wichita". Gotcha! (Georgenote: I din't dispute Wi...

I have finally reached a point where I can show off my plane. Be advised there are areas which I am still polishing... and polishing... and polishing. Did I mention that I'm spending a lot of time polishing?

Re: Venturi location

FWIW, my 1950 'A' model came from Wichita with one 2" Venturi on the left side and the static port on the right. It has since been upgraded, first with an additional 4" Venturi above the original 2" in the early '60s and then the 2" replaced with an additional 4" about 5 yea...

Re: Left Door Latch Removal

Found this in the Cessna 172 (1963-1974) Parts Manual, page 200. Just incase anyone is looking for a basis of "approval" for the different spring type. Man, that would have to be a REALLY diligent FED to take a door apart in the first place!

Re: McCauley breaks?

A PA friend was telling me that he has to be careful when he uses an Apple product when he issues prescriptions. He will type "PRN" for "as needed" and the Apple spell corrector will replace "PRN" with "porn"! Imagine trying to get your insurance provider to p...

Re: Electronic flight displays

My experience flying with EFIS displays (Boeing and Airbus) is that they will occasionally "blink". If it only did it once we'd let the next crew know that it had blinked but no loss of data or other problems. If the EFIS "blinked" more than once, or the previous crew had reporte...
