Re: door latches

I recall there used to be a guy in the C120/140 group that would make mousetrap springs too. I bought a pair from him probably 7-8 years ago. His contact info is probably buried deep someplace here on the forum also.

Re: totaled my 1954 170b

I can also attest first-hand as to the great work and attention to detail that Del and his crew provide to this community! An incident last summer taught me a very important lesson about making sure that your insured hull value is accurate. Depending upon how "attached" you are to your air...

Re: What did you buy for your 170 today?

A new Garmin 335GTX ADS-B OUT transponder. Also removed the old ADF antenna to install the required GPS antenna in its place.

Re: Dick Lemmon - gone West

Dog-gonnit, I've spent too much time away from the forum and am only just now learning of Dick's passing. Like so many others have already said, I'll miss his contribution to our community, both in common sense and snarky wit. I'm printing out all of his "wisdom" below to post in my hangar...

So who here has ever replied "Cessna Businessliner" when ATC requests your type designation?

I double-dog dare you to try it!

Re: Rapco Belt Driven Pump

Thanks for doing the research on these old vacuum pumps. I wonder, for those of us running under the belt-driven pump STC which also requires the nose bowl from an early 172 to be installed, if at some point in the future we ditch the pump and go the way of either electric or Venturi are we strictly...

Re: Stall warning failure

Done, Bruce! You should have a series of emails with about 20 pictures or so. I'll let you post some of them here if you want. I'm going to attempt surgery on this thing later this morning. I'll keep everyone posted on the prognosis.

Re: Stall warning failure

So I removed the stall warning unit this evening and checked for continuity across the posts. There was none. Also, the light bulb was burned out. I disassembled the unit, separating the light assembly from the buzzer component. I checked continuity between the single-strand copper wire that ran fro...

Re: Stall warning failure

Hopefully I'll find something simple to correct with my original. Otherwise, I may have to make a quick trip to Radio Shack... as in REAL quick because ours has a "closing forever" sign in the window right now and I think they're all about to disappear nationally! Thanks for your quick res...

Christine, that's good to hear (pun intended!)

Can you share where you sourced your replacement?

Re: Stall warning failure

Thank you, Gary. An "open" within the buzzer/light assembly sounds like the likely culprit. I'll have to pull it all out to know for sure. Unfortunately, it's a somewhat challenging task as my shock panel isn't original and completely covers my stall warning buzzer. I may have to pull the ...

Re: Stall warning failure

Hi folks, I'm reviving an old thread here... To confirm, if I probe for voltage at EITHER post on the rear of the buzzer unit with the master switch ON, I should see about 12 volts, yes? I'm currently getting voltage from only one post, which makes me think there's likely a short within the buzzer. ...

Thanks for all of your diligent research on this, Bruce. I'm sure the '54 and later guys here will appreciate it.

My '53 (s/n 25865) has 2 different door handles and I suspect that neither is correct. I plan to post pics soon to confirm.

Re: Do you use Champion plugs?

Tempest for me (massive electrode), mostly because they're typically a little bit cheaper per plug than Champions are. At least, that's how it's been every time I've needed a full set of 12.
