I have no opinion on the best tailwheel even though I have had pretty good luck with the Scott on my airplane. Someone mentioned trying a "birddog" tailwheel. If you decide to try that I have a name of a man that has a lot of "birddog" parts. Brown Aircraft Products, Robert Brown...

Well I fall into the category that believes it is much safer to fly. :D For those that think it is safer to drive you might want to consider more training in your airplane.

Well guys I hate to jump into an argument that I do not have the total facts to back me up but in my 40+ years of flying (both airline and general aviation) I have done a lot of reading on the subject and I believe that George's figures are correct. As far as how many people any of us has known that...

I just install Mr.Bartones pipes and I love them. I think they sound GREAT and in my opinion quieter. If you decide to do this e-mail me and I will tell you about one problem you migt have. It involves moving the gascolator. That is not hard but requires some thought. I have a good sheet metal man a...

We finished up the installation today and it looks and sounds GREAT. However for anyone doing it one note of caution, make sure when moving the gascolator to get your small piece of tubing coming out of the 90 degree bend made prior to attaching your bracket to the firewall. The gascolater does not ...

I have recieved Mr. Bartone's pipes and will install this week. According to him it is not an STC but does require a 337. He sent all the paperwork so I will advise if there is any problems.

As one of the people said if we stuck to the 12 years half the airplanes would need an ovehaul. I suspect that some of that is "CYA" from the manufactures. I agree that with good compression and oil consumption you have a good safe engine even if you go past the TBO hours. My point was tha...

Well this is only one mans opinion. I have owned two 170s and to me it is more important the quality of the airframe than the number of hours it has. I would pay particular attention to the gear boxes and the wings. How much corrosion it might have and what about hail damage? As far as the engine is...

Well I am totally confused. I have a 1955 B model and I need to replace the nose bowl. Does anyone know where I can find one. Mine appears to be riveted on but doesn't look to be a big job to change.

I am sure this has been discussed many times but I can not find anythng about it. I want to change my exhaust to the type that comes out of the back of the cowling. Does this require an STC or a 337? I heard that it requires neither and that there was a place to just order the pipes and I would need...

I had a long talk with a man in AL that had used autogas almost exclusively in a Cont.0300 for the life of the engine. He said he never had a problem but the problems he had heard about had to do with letting it sit for long periods with autogas in it. He also said he used only the highest octane ra...
