Re: My T3 tailwheel is installed

First flights with the T3, this thing is nice! Absolutely no shimmy and it feels really smooths in the tail. Really smooths out the rough ground, I am very happy with it. What would you estimate the complete modification would cost an owner, parts and labor? Hi George, I am estimating about 1600.00...

Re: My T3 tailwheel is installed

The T3 is amazing. No shimmy, no vibration, no anything. It makes you wonder if the tail is on the ground at all. I can't say enough good about it. My airplane is happy LOL

Re: My T3 tailwheel is installed

My T3 tailwheel assy is on finally. I got the field approval on Friday. I am A DAR but of course cannot do them on my own aircraft. I will do Field Approvals for these on 170B's and 170A's with a 170B tailwheel attach structure. I am impressed with the attachment to the aircraft. It goes on easy an...

Re: ELT location

At last year's IA renewal seminar I asked Josh Cawthra , an NTSB accident investigator who gave a presentation this very question. Specifically, since he had seen a lot of bent metal, what's the best place to install an ELT from a survivability standpoint? He basically said that if the accident is ...

Re: ELT location

I put mine in the back corner of the baggage shelf. Reasonably sturdy and in the same section of the aircraft as the antenna. I can physically see it to make sure it's armed, and don't have to worry about baggage getting banged into it. Finally, in the event of an accident I can quickly and easily ...

ELT location

I searched the Hangar forum for ELT and it says there is no suitable matches. Sorry if I am bringing up something that has been discussed. I am installing a new ELT and was wondering where people put theirs. Currently mine is in the baggage compartment, right side just ahead of the float kit fitting.

L-19 tow lugs on 180 gear legs

I purchased a set of these for my 170 that has 180 gear legs. The lower bolts in my gear are -6 bolts and of course the lugs are drilled for -5 bolts. I am planning to drill the lugs out for the larger bolts. Or I could put them on the upper two bolts. Has anyone else been through this? Just trying ...

Re: Input wanted on takeoff distance for 180hp, 170A with ST

It’s not easy to make an assessment on info given. We need the type of prop[variable pitch prop ?] is it a a fixed pitch what is the pitch of the prop and who made the prop and what is it made of . Then the engine ? Is it injected or carby and what brand of engine ? Continental ,Lycoming and superi...
