Re: John Barrett is a brave man

A few quick exterior shots. I anticipated on having my hands free to take a few more in flight, but I wasn't anticipating on actually doing the flying.

John Barrett is a brave man

But one of the kindest people I've ever had the pleasure to meet. Yesterday, John invited me up to KARR to learn how to undercut his prop balancing business, and also to take his 170 out for a bit. The entire balancing process was quite interesting and it amazes me how a few washers on the back side...

Wow, you are a spry bunch of geezers on a Saturday morning.

Thanks for the background Bruce and the testimonial Karl. It sounds like it would be something worth pursuing. I appreciate you guys answering my incessant questions.

DynaVibe Propeller Balancer

Hey guys, Has anybody seen this? http://www.rpxtech.com/index.html Thoughts? Though it's comparing apples to oranges, I balance every propeller on my model airplanes, particularly my competition airframes for many of the reasons stated in their sales pitch. An R/C airplane is a completely different ...

Re: Cessna 170B fun decals

Alternatively, if you wanted the Cessna script, you could get a sign shop to cut out some reverse lettering. A job that small won't cost much, and I know there are several vendors that do vinyl graphics for R/C airplanes that will make them no problem. One website even has an interactive page that a...

Re: Time For A Report

Great pictures, Richard, but that 172 overhead in the first shot is a little unnerving. I recall flying with my dad to breakfast at a private field about 8 years ago. About halfway through the morning, a 172 came in and the pilot was behind the airplane the entire time. He made the decision to go ar...

I'd be willing to retract all of my comments, if George is willing to get his (and only his) in GREEN.

Re: Cessna 170B fun decals

Old habits die hard, but I do have a few comments. 1. As has been mentioned previously, the prop is way too long. I would make it about 2/3 of the length. 2. The corrugations on the rudder are a bit thick. It would be nice if they were thinner, particularly since they are stylized and not necessaril...

Re: Cessna 170B fun decals

Richard,

It should be easy enough to simply cut the 'B' off of the application tape before sticking the vinyl down.

Put me down for one of each, Arash.

Re: Cessna 170B fun decals

I'm glad to see that the airplane has wheelpants on it. Any chance of a preview for the scale version? The caricature actually looks pretty cute.

Brake Fairings?

Hey guys, I've seen a few 170s with brake fairings on the wheelpants and I think they look pretty nice. If nothing else, it cleans up the inside of the gear leg and appears to give some added protection to the lower section of brake line. Any PIREPS on them amongst the membership here? Are they all ...

Chicken pox? They look like someone painted dots all over the panel with the end of a paintbrush. Weird.
