Re: YouTube & The Cessna 170
It's the 0360 lycoming avconn conversion. The bumps are there in the clip, they're just hard to see.

Re: YouTube & The Cessna 170
I posted that after finding out that the 170b in the video is my 170b! This was before we owned it. Pretty cool, though. I am still looking for the appropriate pair of flying goggles.

Re: 170 on Walker Texas Ranger
I just received via email a copy of the article from the old newsletter with the story about our airplane and Walker Texas Ranger. Thanks Jan Billeb!

170 on Walker Texas Ranger
We just found out that our 170 was used in an episode of Walker Texas Ranger. I have found the episode and footage - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUkaSgDD9TM and a quick search of the archives on this site reveal that there was an article published in the newsletter - Q2/97 170 - by the owner of t...

Re: 605. Heated pilot installation
Clearly a heated pilot refers to heated seats. That would be a nice option, and now that I see it's called for in the TCD's, I should have no problem getting that through the approval process, right? I should be able to just take the seats out of my suburban, heated seats and all, and bolt them righ...

Re: 180HP Avcon STC data package
I have a similar problem, although I have the 337's and stc paperwork for the Avcon conversion, just not anything else. No drawings, no performance anything, nothing. I would be interested in getting copies of the supporting paperwork just to have as a reference if I ever needed it. Also, It would b...

Re: Larger Tires for a 170B?
We're in the process of getting approval for the 8.50x6's for our 170B and I had a question for you guys - do they use the same cleveland 6.00 wheels as the 6.00x6's I have on now? My mechanic thought the wheels for the bigger tires were, uh, wider? If that's the right term. Thanks.

Good ideas - thanks for the pictures! I'll try these out at the hangar later today.

Securing rudder when tied down outside
Usually our plane is in the hanger, but when I'm out and about and tied down outside, I'd like to tie off the rudder properly. I know not to clamp the top front of the rudder to the vertical stabilizer, and I've heard of putting some sort of devise over the trailing edge and then tying that off to t...

Re: 180HP conversion & Vspeeds
What about Engine power settings for the Avcon STC? I've looked through my paperwork and I can't find any. It's the Lycoming 180hp O360-A1A engine. Just curious about what settings other people are using.

Re: 180HP conversion & Vspeeds
Maybe they were referring to using the engine power settings for the 177, not the v-speeds? Just a thought.

Check ride in a 170b in Utah
We finally got our 170b annualed and all legal, and now we need a check ride. We have a guy who would normally do it for us, but he just had eye surgery and isn't supposed to fly for a while. Anyone know of anyone in Utah that could do that? We're based at Spanish Fork Airport, U77. Thanks!

Re: I give up... contol wheels
Yeah, we tried the placard route, but they didn't buy it. The basically said the only way they would approve latches that allow the window to open all the way would be through a DER with supporting data saying that it would be ok. That will cost more than buying original Cessna latches! Anyway, stil...

Re: I give up... contol wheels
And the did sign the 337 for the existing control wheels. They are a little picky about what they will and won't sign. Still can't get them to pass off on the window latches that allow the window to open up all the way. Oh, well.

Re: I give up... contol wheels
So far the FSDO says it will approve the current control yokes as installed! Makes my life a lot easier. We'll see if they actually sign the paperwork...
