Awesome - thank you so much for the drawing and picture.
Have to get back with my A&P for the STC paperwork, don't remember reading
anything about repositioning the tubes.
Still a litte unclear about the wisdom of cooling the probe to cure the indication versus the
actual oil.

Re: Higher Oil Temp with spin on Oil Filter Adapter?
Thanks for the replies. We did use the same oil temp probe to go into the back of the filter adaptor. Blast tubes - not sure if I have any, what they look like or how to adjust them. A different thread talked about the same thing - do the blast tubes cool the probe or the oil? http://cessna170.com/f...

Higher Oil Temp with spin on Oil Filter Adapter?
I have installed a FM oil filter adapter on my O-3000C and now my oil temperature is much higher than before? Granted, the OAT is high right now, but before it took forever to see any kind of increase on the gage, now the needle is in the lower 1/3 shortly after start/taxi and in the upper 1/3 in cr...

Re: Exhaust stains on one side only...
Long shot. My primer is only connected to my left intake manifold. If the primer leaks thru due to the primer not shutting off then the left exhaust will be darker than the right side exhaust pipe. It should be dry soot, and not wet from oil Dave Interesting, I also only have the primer on the left...

What makes a person 'authorized' ? Does he have to be a Avionics Mechanic?
Am I qualified enough to buy a King KNS 80 and plug it into my Cessna and have a mechanic do the paperwork?

ebay Avionics legal ?
If I buy some used avionics on ebay - what paperwork does the units have to have so I can legally put them in my airplane?
This whole 'yellow tag' is somewhat unclear.
Can I put an ex -Piper ammeter in a Cessna? Does it have to be a part that has at some time been in a Cessna?
Thanks.

Re: Exhaust stains on one side only...
The stains are not on the belly but right behind the exhaust tubes.
Could it be that one of the left cylinders is burning more oil than the right side ones?

What Cylinder to probe for CHT/EGT
I would like to add a EGT and maybe also a CHT to my O-300-C.
What cylinder should the probe go on?
Does it matter?

Glass Tube Gascolator illegal ?
Gentlemen, could anybody confirm that the glass tube gascolator is no longer approved? Heard that as a unconfirmed rumor. Engine is a Cont. O-300-C. Also it is dripping a bit after pulling the strainer - any good place to get new gaskets? (Unless the whole thing needs to be replaced if the glass tub...

Exhaust stains on one side only...
Gentlemen, I recently noticed that after a flight, the exhaust stains on the left side of the cowling look different than on the right. The right side show very little greyish stains, the left more noticable brownish oily stains. Why just one side? I also think the oil consumtion has increased a lit...

Re: IFR certified
Biscuit - you will find more than a few IFR certified 170s owned by members of this forum. Some IFR 170s have vacuum pumps, others have the venturi powered gyros. The Venturis powered gyros tend to be the Artificial Horizon and the Directional Gyro - most of us back up the venturi powered gyros wit...
