Federal 2500 ski value

Can anyone tell me what a fair value would be for a set of Federal 2500 straight skis with UHMW bottoms, 170 gear leg brackets and bungees in good condition? TIA.

You can get in contact with Matt on his cell at:

He said he had no issues with sharing his cell number when I spoke to him a few moths ago.

Re: CPP100-2 fuel drain valve

Here is a link showing exactly what the valve looks like, except the number stamped on the handle is different. I'm assuming the different part number signifies thread size.

Re: CPP100-2 fuel drain valve

Called Preferred Airparts and they did have 9 in stock, BUT, after they sent me a photo of the valve to be sure it is what I was looking for, it looks nothing like what I have. Doesn't even have threads on it. Maybe a discrepancy in the part numbers?? Kurt, Sorry my leads aren't panning out. Dodson...

CPP100-2 fuel drain valve

Trying to find a replacement for a leaking fuel drain valve for our '48 170, serial # 18118. In the C170 parts book, it is on page 72, figure 38, item number 36. Can't find that part number anywhere, or even a cross reference. Any ideas/suggestions?

Re: Horizontal Tail Attach

You’ll want to fit things carefully here. Use clay putty to measure gap with H/S fitted with rear bolts installed and vertical stab fitted with bolts. Remove components and carefully measure gap Reminds me of a time long ago when rebuilding engines and using Plastigauge to check bearing clearances....

Re: Engine tachometer and cable questions

Radioactive markings on gauges are only bad for you if you lick the face of the gauge or chew on the indicator needles. These are not my words . I have been siting up front in cockpits for over 67 years and I haven’t started to glow in the dark. Seriously the amount of radioactivity coming off gaug...

Re: Engine tachometer and cable questions

Update as promised. Ended up having a tach that was radioactive due to the type of paint used on the dial and needles, so they would not touch it. Century Instruments sold me an overhauled unit with the identical markings on the face as the old unit, along with setting the tach time to match the old...

Re: Engine tachometer and cable questions

Shipped tach off to Century Instruments. Awaiting response from them if able to be overhauled or not. Would like to keep this tach, if at all possible. Will be going George's route of pulling entire cable/sheath assembly and replacing with new. Thanks to everyone for their input/suggestions. Will po...

Engine tachometer and cable questions

Engine tach became inoperative and I found that the cable was broken about 1 inch from the end that goes into the engine drive. Also found that the cause of the broken cable was that the tach seized up. 1) I would like to order just the flexible cable, if possible. Are these custom made, or are they...

Re: Proper Landing gear axle attachment bolts

These NAS bolts are a high strength bolt, and have a radius between the underside of the head and the bolt shank. A special washer with a countersink that provides relief for the radius is required. Without the special washer, the regular washer can dig into the radius which creates a stress riser ...

Re: Proper Landing gear axle attachment bolts

The top bolts are AN5-23A or NAS145-41 and the bottoms are AN6-24A or NAS146-42. The NAS bolts are recommended for ski installations and require a special washer as well.
